Tiger Woods will make his return to golf at Masters

The much anticipated return of Tiger Woods to competitive golf finally has a date set and it will be April 8 at the Masters.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Woods declared that he would return from his leave of absence at Augusta National Golf Club. Woods has never missed the year’s first major as a professional golfer.

“The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta,” Woods said in a statement.

As Washington Wizards’ guard Gilbert Arenas prepares to be sentenced next week in his case where he pleaded guilty to a felony gun charge in January, Arenas says that he deserves to be punished for his actions.

The suspended Washington Wizards guard told Esquire magazine that he wasn’t using “longevity thinking” when he took out four guns in what he says was an attempt to play a prank on teammate Javaris Crittenton in December.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen dies at 69

Pro Football Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen has died at age 69. Olsen was a defensive lineman that was part of the Los Angeles Rams’ “Fearsome Foursome” in the 1960’s. Olsen passed away after a long battle with cancer.

“This was the voice of a man who not only became one of our country’s most decorated athletes, but also one of the most accomplished and respected people ever to hail from the state of Utah,” said Stan Albrecht, president of Utah State.
