Derrick Mason agrees to two-year deal with Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens continue to bolster their passing attack, this time re-signing two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Derrick Mason.

Mason and the Ravens agreed on a two-year deal that is reported to be worth $8 million, with $3.5 million coming in the first year. Mason originally joined the Ravens in 2005 and with this new deal, he is likely to finish his career in Baltimore.

Source: Donte Stallworth to sign with Baltimore Ravens

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, wide receiver Donte Stallworth has agreed to a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

The deal is reported to be worth $900,000 with the ability for Stallworth to earn up to another $300,000 in incentives. Just last week, Stallworth’s contract with the Cleveland Browns was terminated. Stallworth was also recently reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after serving a year-long suspension for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk.

Oakland Raiders hire Hue Jackson to fill offensive coordinator position

Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell needs help so the organization has solicited the help of Hue Jackson as they have hired him as their new offensive coordinator. The hope is Jackson can turn Russell’s career around like he developed Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.

With the addition of Jackson, head coach Tom Cable will relinquish the play-calling duties to the new hire now that the team has a legitimate offensive coordinator.

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry dies after falling from truck

One day after falling out of the back of a pickup truck, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has died. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that Henry died at 6:36 a.m. Thursday, he was 26.

"It is with great sadness to learn Chris has passed away," Henry's agent, Andy Simms, said in a statement. "For those who knew Chris, he was nothing like his public perception. A loving and caring individual, he was thankful for what he had in life, and proud of what he had overcome."

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry involved in serious accident

Cincinnati Bengals’ wide receiver Chris Henry was involved in a serious car accident in Charlotte on Wednesday and according to the team, his injuries are very serious.

The Charlotte Observer is reporting that Henry’s injuries are “life threatening”. The early reports indicate that Henry fell out of the back of a pick-up truck and was found a half a mile away.

Henry was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 9 after breaking his arm during the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

NFL makes changes to rules regarding concussions and returning to play

In the wake of the recent concussion studies that have come out about NFL players and the effects those concussions have on players, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has announced some changes to the way players are treated after suffering the injury.

In a memo to teams, Goodell stated that a player who gets a concussion should not return to action on the same day if he shows certain signs or symptoms. Those symptoms include an inability to remember assignments or plays, a gap in memory, persistent dizziness and persistent headaches.

Oakland Raiders starting Bruce Gradkowski rewarded team with win

It seems the quarterback scenario that occurred in Tennessee last season, is happening this year in Oakland. The Raiders decided to bench their No.1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell for backup Bruce Gradkowski for the Sunday game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

It proved to be the right move as Gradkowski, with a little help from the Bengals, pulled off a 20-17 win for the Raiders at home.

Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis stops Chad Ochocinco from sending mustard to Steelers

Unfortunately for Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, head coach Marvin Lewis is not as generous as he is so the Steelers will not be receiving mustard courtesy of Ochocinco.

This week Ochocinco tweeted that he would be sending the Steelers’ defense mustard at Heinz Field before they play on Sunday. This season Ochocinco has made a habit out of sending the opposing team gifts before the game that motivate him and poke fun at them.
